The Helios Concept in Gdynia Wins Big at CineEurope 2026

Huge applause and congratulations to the Helios S.A. cinema chain, as well as the design studios Gieraltowski Architects and Extract Design! This year’s CineEurope 2026 trade show in Barcelona brought spectacular success for Polish architectural thought. Helios’ new concept in Gdynia won two prestigious international awards, proving that Polish premium space design is currently setting the standards on international markets. At QCS Global, we are thrilled to witness this success. It is a perfect example of how uncompromising quality, a unique visual identity, and courage in space creation become the finest showcase for modern business.

Architecture as a Multi-Dimensional Experience

Today, the key to international recognition is no longer traditional modernization, but redesigning a space completely from scratch. The Gdynia project is an absolute masterpiece in interior architecture. It was recognized with the prestigious ICTA EMEA Award 2026 in the Best Cinema Refurbishment category (awarded by the International Cinema Technology Association) and the prestigious Blue Ribbon Certificate of Excellence in the Moviegoing Experience. The Helios cinema in Gdynia is a venue where architecture is not just a backdrop for technology, but its full-fledged partner. The vision created by the architects at Gieraltowski Architects and Extract Design uniquely combines advanced solutions with a distinct, bold form. Joining the elite group of winners – alongside iconic venues such as the Odeon Leicester Square in London – clearly shows that Polish premium projects are now setting trends across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Success in Numbers

The Polish project had to outperform over 300 entries from 45 countries. Experts from Boxoffice Pro magazine primarily evaluated how outstanding architecture and design build a relationship with the local community and redefine user comfort. Achieving such a spectacular effect is further enhanced by the launch of the first IMAX theater in the Pomerania region, which perfectly complements this spatial revolution. „The project in Gdynia was more than just a modernization for us — it was a conscious attempt to redefine an experience where technology, design, and comfort create a single, cohesive whole. We are delighted that the project has been recognized by the international industry community,” emphasizes Tomasz Jagiełło, CEO of Helios S.A.

A Polish Voice at the Heart of the International Industry

The triumph of outstanding design coincided with another managerial success. During the General Assembly of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), which brings together operators from 39 countries, Tomasz Jagiełło was re-elected to the organization’s Board of Directors, where he will serve as Vice President for the 2026–2028 term. This is a huge honor and proof of trust in the position that the Polish cinema market has established for itself in Europe.
